To Meet the Current Needs of Your Students
Course Description:
Program practices and curricular offerings in health, wellness and physical education must be updated regularly to meet the contemporary needs of all students in your community. National & state standards will be examined, cross- referenced and put into perspective prior to developing a grade level curriculum.
The influences of conceptual practices, technology and assessment models will be examined and utilized in developing a fresh, rejuvenated approach to your health & wellness instructional program. New and exciting teaching concepts and hands- on activities will be developed, shared and presented in a thoughtful and concise manner, ready to be put to use.
Instructional practices in physical education, health and wellness will be brought up to speed relative to technology and our ever-changing means of communication. A variety of technologies is necessary to keep abreast of the latest information and ideas that can shape the way we design and communicate our programs to our students and the public at large.
Participants will:
Ø Explore contemporary activities in health, wellness and physical education
Ø Develop an understanding of technology in the instructional setting
Ø Examine meaningful, grade-level, curriculum & instructional practices
Ø Review insightful instructional materials that meet student needs
Ø Prepare a portfolio of “target activities” ready for classroom use
Ø Redesign the learning environment of their instructional setting
Ø Build a solid program of health & wellness activities for all students, K-12
Course Requirements:
Attendance and class discussion & participation
H/W articles and materials review
Complete course binder
Develop H/W programming materials in relation to NASPE Standards& Frameworks
