Mary Kalen
Romjue, Ph, D, earned a B.A. in Biology from William Jewell
College in Liberty, Mo and her Ph. D. in Science Education at the University
of Nebraska-Lincoln. She taught various science courses in the Nebraska
Public Schools for 24 years before moving on to higher education. During
that time Mary became active in a variety of professional organizations
including NSTA, NABT, the International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF),
etc. Mary held local, state and national positions in them, including
serving on the original Scientific Review Committee (SRC) for the ISEF until
recently. She coordinated an EPA Grant to develop Environmental Science
curriculum for Middle schools that was delivered via Satellite and computer
around the world. At the University level she has been teaching
undergraduate and graduate classes in Science Methods and Space Science for
Educators at Fort Hays State University and the University of Central
Florida. She established two partnerships involving University Junior
Elementary Education and Exceptional Education Majors, one at U.S. Space
Camp, the other with the Brevard Zoo. During the last 4 or 5 years Mary has
been a consultant for Full Option Science System (FOSS) and for the last 8
years she has been Coordinator of the UCF/NASA Aerospace Institute for the
U.S. Department of Statešs Division of Overseas Schools.
