Dr. June Main, Professor of Education at Jacksonville University, taught elementary school children for 12 years and many different courses at UF, UNF and JU for the last 18 years.  She is the creator and director of the JU master’s program, Integrated Learning with Educational Technology.  June has made numerous presentations at regional, national and international conferences focusing on activity-based, constructivist science teaching, integration of curriculum, reaching all students through multiple intelligences, and the integration of high level technology.  She has been a elementary science consultant and presenter for the Association of International Schools in Africa, recently presenting many workshops at annual teacher conferences in Kenya and Namibia.

 

June received her Ph.D. from the University of Florida and is the recipient of many awards for excellence in teaching including the Carnegie Foundation’s Florida Professor of the Year award (2002), Jacksonville Professor of the Year (2003), the Jacksonville Times-Union EVE Award for Education (2001), the award for Innovative Excellence in Teaching, Learning and Technology (1999), Who’s Who in American Education, (1990-2006), and the National Science Teacher Association’s STAR Award (1983).  She is the author and coauthor of two science books, Developing Critical Thinking through Science, Book I and Book II, (2001 and 2002) published by Critical Thinking Books and Software (www.CriticalThinking.com); curriculum materials and many journal articles. June wrote many science sections for the State of Florida’s online programs: the online Integrated Curriculum for Middle School Teachers (online Spring 2005) and the online K-6  Integrated Curriculum (planned to be online Fall 2006).
