RESEARCH FOCUS
The current research focus is centered on the development of a model that emphasizes a systems view of social, self-directed learning that is being integrated in online environments. The global emphasis of this research is being conducted using a design-based research methodology, with qualitative and quantitative individual studies being utilized to investigate particular variables and aspects of the model. The social, self-directed learning model incorporates a theoretical base of adult learning practice, self-direction/self-regulation, social learning theory, constructivism, metacognitive practice, and systems theory. Recent developments have led to a newly designed emphasis on an ecological system with interdependent variables impacting the learning process.
